Tiktok is a short -form, video sharing app that allows users to create & share videos,on any topic. It is a social networking service owned by "ByteDANCE" a Beijing based company founded in 2012 by Zhang Yimming. Tiktok maintains a separate app for the Chinese market,known as Duyin, which has over 300 million active monthly users. It is used to create short lip-sync, comedy and talent videos. This application allows users to create short music & lip-sync videos of 3 to 15 seconds and short looping videos of 3 to 60 seconds. 

TIKTOK FORMERLY KNOWN AS "MUSICAL.LY"

Formerly it was known as Musical.ly The app Musical.ly was used by young people as an outlet to express themselves through singing,dancing,comedy & lip- syncing. The main function of the Musical.ly was that users could make videos combing with background music or other audio snippets.

With more than 100 million users the app was not only successful among various age groups ,but it also brought forward new social media influencers. However on November 2017,Musical.ly was officially shut down because it was bought by a Chinese company called ByteDance. All musical.ly users were automatically moved to the new app 'TIKTOK'. 

The app is now called 'TIKTOK ' complete with a new logo,has all of the same features as a musical.ly.
